Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India

I’m back in the United States – jeg lagged and up at 5am this morning, but happy about last week’s Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India. In 2010, we piloted a Grace Hopper Conference in India. Last week we finished the first Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India. We had over 1000 people attend, with 125 students. There were 23 (!) sponsors including a few last minute additions. The planning committee included over 300 people on the planning committee, and they planned 8 tracks. Of particular note was a plenary entrepreneurial event, where six new female entrepreneurs gave a pitch.. The winner was Sangeeta Banerjee from 3Five8 Technologies, a software development firm that supports apartment management.

I'm glad to be back but experiencing the success of the conference was very affirming.
