UN Commision on the Status of Women and ABI

The 55th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women includes the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. An international panel on "Women Taking the Lead: Education, Entrepreneurship and Opportunities for All" will include Deanna Kosaraju, ABI's VP of Programs.

International participation in many of our programs has been true for some time, both at Grace Hopper and in our online Systers community, and our Change Agent Award brings women from around the world to our conference. But the Grace Hopper Celebration in India was the inaugural effort outside of the US. We will continue to hold an event in India, and it is our plan to continue to expand this effort around the world. These efforts, while building on our expertise elsewhere are designed by a local planning committee that understands the needs of their community.

What is also exciting about this event at the UN, is that the UN has also created a new organization called UN Women with an experience leader Michelle Bachelet, and teeth. The new organization will be measured by their impact, but this is an important first step.
